Grand Junction liquor panel approves routine renewals, late renewal and three special-event permits

The Grand Junction Liquor Licensing Authority approved a slate of license and permit requests on March 4, 2026, including routine renewals for two hotels and a convenience store, a late renewal for a downtown restaurant, a premises modification to add outdoor seating at a riverfront restaurant, a transfer of ownership for a hotel, and three special-event permits for spring fundraisers and festivals.

Hearing Officer Jill Cenamo read three routine renewals into the record for Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites (2751 Crossroads Blvd.), Colorado Mesa University dba Hotel Maverick (840 Kennedy Ave.), and CST Metro, LLC dba Circle K #2744115 (599 29 ½ Road). Cenamo verified with Deputy City Clerk Misty Williams that the applications were in order, asked for public comment (none), and approved the renewals as requested.

The Authority considered a late renewal for Ceviches & Miches (200 W Grand Ave), which was filed 31 days late. Restaurant manager Avilene Parra and Brian Turner of Alcohol Petitioning Services said the business had been temporarily closed for two months and the renewal was inadvertently missed; Parra outlined steps to prevent future missed filings. After verification that the application was otherwise in order, Cenamo approved the renewal.

Owners Ashley and Matt Chasseur described a requested modification of premises at Tiki Bird (119 N. 7th St.) to add an outdoor dining option and an enclosed patio, and summarized existing alcohol service procedures for the new area. Deputy City Clerk Misty Williams read attached survey results into the record. With no opposition present, Cenamo approved the modification as presented.

The Authority approved a transfer of ownership for Four Brothers, Inc., dba Grand Vista Hotel (2790 Crossroads Blvd.). Members Tara and Tej Gautam answered questions about the licensed layout and indicated a possible future premises modification next year; no one spoke against the transfer and Cenamo approved the application.

Three special-event permit applications were approved. The Greater Grand Junction Sports Commission’s Maverick Classic 2026 (March 28, 1–8 p.m., at 450 Colorado Ave) listed an expected 1,500 attendees and proposed fenced beer-garden boundaries, wristband age verification, vendor ID checks, volunteer and uniformed security, and two food trucks; Operations Coordinator Sam Smith answered questions and the permit was approved after the Authority found no statutory grounds to deny under Colorado State Statute 44-05-106. The Western Slope Harley Owners Group’s 2026 Spring Kickoff (March 27–28) and Teddy Morse’s Grand Junction Harley-Davidson site application described fenced service areas, wristband checks, limited drinks per person and security staff; Event Manager Traci Stapleton-Jones answered questions and the permit was approved. The United Way of Mesa County’s Taste of the Grand Valley fundraiser (April 24) listed an expected 500 attendees, TIPS-trained volunteers and Citadel security, wristband ID verification, limited sample pours and signage; Event Manager Krya Seppie answered questions and that permit was approved.

Throughout the meeting, Hearing Officer Cenamo verified applications were in order with Deputy City Clerk Misty Williams, solicited public comment (none on the listed matters), entered exhibits for the special-event applications, and cited the applicable state standard for denial review. The meeting adjourned at 3:49 p.m.
