The Opelika City Schools Board of Education on March 24 unanimously approved a set of construction and service contracts and several personnel items during a meeting at district central office.
The most significant actions included approval of a bid for additions and renovations to Fox Run School and a separate bid for interior renovations at Jeter Primary and Morris Avenue Intermediate School. The board also approved Pest and Termite Control Services Bid #26-0316-03. Motions to approve these contracts passed unanimously.
Board members recorded motions and seconds as follows: the Fox Run School bid was moved by Tipi Miller and seconded by Patsy Boyd Parker; the interior renovations bid was moved by Antione T. Harvis and seconded by Tipi Miller; the pest and termite contract and other business were moved by Antione T. Harvis and seconded by Tipi Miller. The minutes show each of these votes as unanimously approved by the five voting members on the attendance list.
The board also approved the superintendent's personnel recommendations and a probationary principal contract for Chris Hames to serve as principal of West Forest Intermediate School. The personnel recommendations and the principal contract were moved by Antione T. Harvis, seconded by Pearson Alsobrook, and recorded as unanimously approved.
The meeting was called to order by Dr. Kevin Royal at 4:30 p.m.; it was adjourned at 5:31 p.m. by motion of Antione T. Harvis, seconded by Tipi Miller. The board's next meeting is scheduled for April 14, 2026.
