The Weatherford City Council authorized a construction contract with Gilco Contracting Inc. for the Kirkpatrick Drive Phase 2 project, accepting the low bid of $2,010,948. Public Works staff said the project extends Kirkpatrick Drive roughly 1,200 feet, adds water and wastewater lines (about 1,200 and 1,900 linear feet respectively) and connects Tintop Road to Bethel Road to improve corridor connectivity and economic development potential.
Project manager Matt Leppler told the council the engineer's original opinion of probable cost was about $3,000,000; the low-bid result represented a substantial saving. The project will be paid from the TIRZ1 tax increment reinvestment zone fund, has a 270-day contract term and, with a March notice to proceed, is expected to complete in December 2026.
Council moved and approved the authorization on a voice vote.
