Weatherford approves $196,000 contract for administrative-office redesign

Weatherford City Council voted Feb. 10 to authorize the city manager to execute a professional‑services contract with Elements of Architecture for design work on an administrative office renovation at 118 Columbia Street, not to exceed $196,000.
Scott McDonald described the firm’s experience in municipal facilities and historic preservation and outlined the project timeline: staff will enter the programming phase immediately, McDonald said, and initial design concepts are expected in early summer. He said the team expects construction drawings to follow and that the city hopes to have permit-ready drawings by June and to occupy the renovated space as early as the first of next year if schedules hold. The planned space will house development services, parks and recreation, and facilities management.
Mayor Pro Tem Zach Smith moved to approve the contract; Luke Williams seconded and the council voted to approve the item.
The contract will move the project into a design phase that staff described as including programming, design and construction documents; no construction contract was presented at the Feb. 10 meeting.
