Council approves rezoning and conditional-use permit for auto-glass business at Fort Worth Highway with conditions

The council approved a zoning map amendment and a conditional use permit for a commercial property at 2239 Fort Worth Highway to allow vehicular glass replacement and related services. Scott McDonald, director of development services, described the request as consistent with the city's community commercial designation and the general plan.
Property owner Tim Clark said he bought the site about 18 months ago, removed wrecking-yard debris and sought an interim tenant, Glass Doctor, to occupy and clean up the lot while a longer-term plan is developed. "We bought this property a year and a half ago... Glass Doctor came to us, wanted to lease it," Clark said.
Staff recommended approval subject to conditions that prohibit temporary signs, banners or other advertisements and limit auto-repair activities to vehicular glass and associated repairs. The council approved the zoning and CUP with those conditions; the vote carried on a voice vote.
