During citizen comments, Clint Miller, representing American Legion Post 163, announced a community day event on June 6 from about 10 a.m. to 4 or 5 p.m. and asked for the council's support for the event (no financial request). "We were coming tonight to announce that we will be throwing a community day event," Miller said.
Catherine Lewis spoke during non-agenda public comment about her experience as a survivor and urged the council to support victims and address affordable housing and tree preservation amid growth. She said she was assaulted in 1988 by a youth minister and asked the chief to speak with her after the meeting. "I'm standing here for the victims. They need to have a voice," Lewis said. She also urged the city to look for ways to help residents priced out by rising rents and to preserve trees where possible.
The mayor thanked the speakers and adjourned the meeting at 6:31 p.m.
