The Crest Hill Plan Commission on March 12 conducted its annual review of the city’s zoning map and gave a unanimous straw poll to forward the updated 2026 zoning map to City Council.
Daniel Ritter, Crest Hill’s community and economic development director, said the annual adoption is required by state statute to occur before March each year and that the current update does not include zoning changes — it simply reflects changes that occurred over the prior year. "It's really just adopting a new map that updates any of the changes that have happened in the prior year," Ritter said.
Ritter told commissioners staff had audited the packet and corrected one typographical error. The commission conducted a roll-call straw vote; all members present indicated they were fine forwarding the map to City Council, and staff said they would transmit the item for council consideration, likely the week following the commission meeting.
Ritter and commissioners also noted the next year’s map could be more substantive if rezonings or annexations are proposed during the coming cycle.
