Search and Rescue to occupy Summers Lane building; county discusses $8,000 fence bid

During the March 25 finance meeting, staff raised the Summers Lane property to confirm which department will bear facility maintenance costs. Finance staff told the committee that Emergency Management will not occupy the building and that the county intends to remove a previously budgeted $19,000 facilities charge from Emergency Management and transfer maintenance responsibility to Search and Rescue.
Commissioners and staff discussed logistics, and one county speaker reported receiving a fencing bid "just under $8,000" to tie into existing fencing, add a double gate and connect to the county entry. Staff said they have no objection to Search and Rescue occupying the building provided the department will handle ongoing maintenance and utilities.
Committee members agreed the matter should be included on a later agenda for any required formal action; no formal motion or recorded vote on charges or fencing occurred during this session.
