Chair Kelly McNulty presided and called for nominations; Ashley Trueschel was nominated and approved as budget committee chair, Will (Oxley) was approved as vice chair, and Frank was named secretary by voice votes.
The committee also reviewed hearing logistics for the coming budget cycle. McNulty explained the committee will recess the regular county budget hearing to open separate hearings for service districts — beginning with the Klamath drainage service district — and then reconvene the regular budget hearing each day. She said the committee will strive to complete each district's hearing in a single sitting when possible to avoid repeat deliberations.
McNulty emphasized procedural limits for this working meeting, saying members may discuss prior year budgets and general approaches but must not deliberate on specific appropriations, tax levies, or proposed line‑item funding until the noticed public hearings.
The committee closed its budget‑committee portion after agreeing on officer appointments and the hearing sequence; staff said binders and digital materials will be provided to members before the public hearings.
