3rd District Commissioner Milan Blake placed on the Aug. 18 voting-session agenda the Finance Committee recommendation to not fund, at this time, the clearing, leveling and graveling/paving of the Fire Facility property on Minnis Road, citing an estimated cost of $75,000.
4th District Commissioner Scott Gilbert spoke during the work session to express disagreement with the committee's recommendation, indicating he opposed postponing funding and implying he may press for the work when the commission considers the item on Aug. 18. The work session minutes record the placement of the recommendation on the next voting-session agenda; no formal vote on the recommendation occurred during the Aug. 11 work session.
The matter will next appear before the full commission at the Aug. 18 Voting Session, where commissioners may vote to approve, reject or amend the Finance Committee's recommendation. The minutes do not specify additional project details such as contractor estimates, scope beyond "clearing, leveling, and graveling/paving," or which department would manage the work.
