Amber Wilson, outreach and engagement officer at Weatherford Animal Services, summarized recent outreach and adoption events. She said the shelter participated in the Peach Festival, Tractor Supply and PetSmart adoption events, and a Clear the Shelters event in Fort Worth where six dogs were adopted. The shelter’s own Clear the Shelters day produced 45 adoptions and 52 animals leaving the facility between adoptions and rescues.
Wilson highlighted a success story: Alan Hall, a U.S. Air Force Reserve member, adopted a long‑term resident and named him Colonel Billy Mitchell through the Pets for Patriots program. Wilson said the shelter will host a trunk‑or‑treat on Oct. 18 and is planning additional outreach and photo opportunities with Jazz Chapel.
Committee members thanked Wilson and noted recent adoptions, including that Camilla (a featured dog) was adopted shortly after a library visit.
