The fire department reported that Engine 10 has been repaired and is awaiting a pump test before returning to service. The department said firefighter Josh Vincent completed his probationary year and was advanced to second-class firefighter, and two recent hires passed public-safety medicals; uniforms and final processing remain. The fire chief said physicals were more expensive than budgeted—roughly $2,400 each versus the $1,800 estimated—and that he will submit a resolution transfer to cover the cost.
Fire leadership said they planned to apply for multiple federal grants when applications open, including the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG), SAFER (staffing) and fire-prevention grants. The chief outlined intentions for an annual full-gear fitness/performance test for incumbents and noted training and leadership courses scheduled for staff.
The police assistant chief reported that a new-hire graduation is scheduled for April 24 and that vehicle replacements and phased equipment transfers were planned for the week of April 6; background checks for a candidate were underway and staff discussed offering local training classes to certify evidence technicians.
Board members asked clarifying questions; no formal votes were taken on the operational items. The departments will proceed with the planned grant applications and the chief will return with any required budget-transfer documents.
