At its final regular meeting of 2025, the Broadview Village Board approved $981,410.99 in expenditures and established its 2026 holiday and meeting schedules by consent while tabling an independent‑contractor agreement until the board’s Jan. 5, 2026 meeting.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Katrina Thompson at 6:30 p.m. and a quorum was confirmed. Trustee Abraham, serving as finance chair, read the accounts-payable warrant list and reported that total expenditures for the period ending Dec. 10, 2025, were $981,410.99, with the subset of payments greater than $2,500 totaling $945,729.67. On a motion and roll-call vote the board authorized payment of the bills, a vote the clerk recorded as carrying 6 to 0.
The board approved a purchase order authorizing $12,640 to Alpha Fire Sprinkler Company for Public Works to complete a five‑year inspection and replace sprinkler heads. Public Works Director Matt Ames described the work as required by the inspection; the motion passed 6-0.
Under new business the clerk read six consent items: a resolution supporting the Illinois America 250 commemoration; a resolution approving the Village of Broadview’s 2026 holiday schedule; a resolution establishing the village’s 2026 meeting schedule; a proposed independent‑contractor agreement with accountant Rayna Bay (item 4); an ordinance providing for abatement of the 2025 tax levy for general-obligation bonds Series 2018; and an ordinance levying taxes for fiscal year 2025. Mayor Thompson asked that item 4 be tabled until the board’s regular meeting on Jan. 5, 2026. The board then established and approved the consent agenda as amended; the clerk recorded the approval as 6 to 0.
There were no public comments submitted. In department reports, Finance Director Tom Hood said the village had received its fiscal-2023 audit and that Cook County has resumed collecting property-tax payments after a pause; Hood said Broadview’s cash reserves allowed operations to continue while receipts were delayed. Village Administrator Leticia Jones said a fire-position posting is on the village website and said residency-ordinance changes will be circulated and reported in January.
Mayor Thompson closed the meeting with seasonal greetings and community reminders. Trustee Miller moved to adjourn; on roll call the motion carried 6 to 0 and the meeting ended at 7:07 p.m.
