The Village of Willow Springs board on March 12 recognized Madison Perello, a third-grade student, as the winner of the village’s vehicle-sticker art contest. President Netemeyer said about 30 submissions were reviewed and invited Perello and family members to the meeting; the artwork will become the village’s vehicle sticker and go on sale soon.
In other community items, Clerk Charles announced the next food pantry will be Tuesday, April 21 at the community center from 3:30–5:30 p.m., and reminded board and commission members to file statements of economic interest by May 1. Clerk Charles also said vehicle stickers go on sale April 1 and must be purchased by June 30 to avoid a penalty.
Administrator Grace briefed the board on a property along Willow Springs Road. "As of the last few weeks, it appears that they have engaged with a land use consultant who is gonna help them, market the property for for sale," Grace said. She added the owner expects to have the property out for competitive bid over the summer or fall and that the consultant is aware of zoning; the village has not yet been contacted directly for meetings or clarification.
Board members also publicly thanked the police chief for his service and leadership; several trustees praised department staffing and training improvements during the chief’s tenure. Trustee Justin announced an Easter egg hunt for March 28 with events at Lions Park (10:00 a.m.) and Willow Park (11:00 a.m.). The board set its next meeting for April 9 and adjourned at 7:21 p.m.
What’s next: Administrator Grace said she will notify the board if the property owner requests meetings or clarification; vehicle stickers will be available beginning April 1.
