The Village of Broadview board on Feb. 25 approved a $207,013.35 expenditure to buy three ZOLL Zenix cardiac monitors for the fire department, financing the equipment at 0% over five years.
Fire Chief Martin told the board the monitors are budgeted upgrades and “are our number‑one used piece of equipment. We use it on every single medical call,” and said the devices monitor blood pressure, oxygen saturation, heart rate, EKGs and advanced interventions such as pacing and defibrillation. He said the purchase includes a one‑year warranty plus four additional years of coverage, so the monitors will be warrantied for the five‑year financing period.
Trustees asked questions and expressed support. Trustee Jerry Shelby said he had discussed the purchase with Chief Martin and that his concerns were answered. The board approved the purchase by roll call, 6–0.
The board record shows the expenditure is a budgeted item and will be paid through the village’s financing arrangement with ZOLL Medical Corporation. No additional contract details beyond the five‑year, 0% financing and warranty coverage were provided at the meeting. The board’s next regular meeting will include recognition of the building commissioner’s service.
