The Antioch Village Board on Nov. 12 adopted a six-month moratorium on new tobacco licenses in the village.
An application from Tobacco Creek LLC for a Class B/C tobacco license at 952 Main Street did not receive a second on a motion to waive second reading and therefore did not proceed. Shortly afterward the board moved and approved an ordinance imposing a six-month moratorium on new tobacco licenses (Ordinance 25-11-69).
The moratorium passed by roll call. Trustees did not debate specific enforcement steps in detail at that moment; staff indicated they will include related items on the next consent agenda and follow up with implementation language and timelines.
The moratorium halts new tobacco-license approvals while staff and the board review licensing policy and compliance practices, including concerns raised elsewhere in the meeting about other local business licensing and occupancy-permit processes.
