Board hears director vacancy and staffing update, offers condolences to Maywood staff

Chief Mills, speaking on behalf of Director Powell, told the board that the director opening is posted on the Village of Broadview website and that, to date, "we've gotten approximately 3 applications," adding that qualification requirements have been strict and the posting can be extended. Mills said the posting is expected to remain open through Dec. 31 but that the period may be extended if more qualified candidates are needed.
Mills reported call-for-service figures from the packet (transcribed numbers: "1,815," "$13.68," and a grand total "3,108" for the reporting period) and said Broadview is actively recruiting and training new TCOs. He said Broadview had five TCOs on record but one had been on extended medical leave and the center was preparing to hire one or two additional staff.
Chief Mills also offered condolences to the Village of Maywood on the death of its records clerk; board members responded with appreciation and sympathy. Several members thanked TCOs from Broadview and Maywood for their service during recent operational challenges and mutual-aid responses.
There was no new or old business; the board moved to adjourn and the meeting ended at 10:16 a.m.
