Wauconda board approves $10,490 change order; EPA corrective-action plan awaited

The Wauconda Village Board on March 3 approved a resolution waiving competitive bidding and authorizing Change Order No. 3 with Partner Engineering for $10,490 to manage residual soil and water from monitoring-well installation.
A staff member told the board that the project has reached its final stages: the EPA-required soil borings and monitor wells have been installed, a final report has been submitted to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the report’s findings indicate contamination was isolated to one area. Staff recommended approving the change order to cover removal and proper handling of residual material stored in drums.
The staff member said the village now awaits the EPA’s review and any corrective-action plan, which staff expects sometime in April. Board members asked whether continued monitoring would be required; staff said monitoring could be part of the EPA request.
The motion to approve the resolution and change order was made, seconded and declared carried by the mayor.
