Antioch public works reports snow response, pump cavitation problem and new facility progress

Dennis, representing Public Works, updated the board on operations and capital progress. He thanked PW staff for extensive hours on recent snow removal and said downtown clearing helped small-business access during the holidays.
Dennis reported the water department completed six pump repairs but that the startup of a newly installed well pump is experiencing cavitation, which is introducing air into the water flow; the village is working with a well company to diagnose the issue and has not observed a drop in aquifer level. "We're working with a well company right now to diagnose what the issue might be," he said.
On the new public works facility, Dennis said building footings are complete and about 60% of foundation walls are in place. Precast panels scheduled for installation were delayed to Jan. 15. He also said engineers currently estimate about $200,000 for widening and repaving work adjacent to the project and that the village is seeking a temporary access permit from Lake County and exploring cost-share options.
Dennis asked the board for patience as staff secure a letter of credit and continue coordination with Lake County; he will provide updates as the well-diagnosis and construction progress proceed.
