La Grange board approves consent agenda, zoning text amendment and Gordon Park band shell

At its March 24 meeting the La Grange Village Board approved multiple routine and land‑use items.
Consent agenda: A motion to approve the consent agenda (items a–g) carried on a roll‑call vote with Trustees Augustine, Gail, O’Brien, Peterson and Thompson voting aye and Trustee McGee absent. The consent agenda included a resolution with Lifeline Billing Systems LLC for debt collection services, participation in a joint salt purchase master contract, an amendment to parking restrictions in the village code, a settlement and parking‑lot access agreement, minutes from prior meetings, and a consolidated voucher.
Open Space (OS) zoning text amendment: The board approved an ordinance recommended by the plan commission to reclassify hard‑surface sports courts (tennis, basketball, etc.) as a permitted use in the Open Space District, eliminating the need for a special‑use permit for those courts on park‑district‑owned properties. The plan commission had voted 5–0 to recommend approval.
Gordon Park band shell: The board approved an amendment to a previously approved special‑use permit and site plan and granted a design‑review permit to accommodate a larger band shell at Gordon Park. The plan commission recommended approval with conditions related to landscaping, roof color and operational changes that would require future village approval. Jenny Bechtel of the Park District said planned programming could include mid‑sized events, rentals and community uses; the district will comply with village noise regulations.
Procedural: At the start of the meeting the board also appointed Trustee Gail to serve as president pro tem in the absence of the board president. The meeting adjourned at about 8:20 p.m.
