With a long‑time Lakeland instructor retiring, staff said the new edition will help a new teacher align to current AP expectations. The board was given time to review the text and take questions before a future purchasing vote.
A board member asked about enrollment (presenters said roughly 90 students at each high school, about 180 total) and whether the senior government semester course had been updated recently; staff said the senior course had been revised in 2023. The board did not vote on the purchase tonight and asked administrators to make the book available for review.
