Washington council approves consent agenda and names Jeff Fagan Shue budget officer

In mayoral communications, the mayor noted the appointment of Jeff Fagan Shue as city administrator. City Attorney Mark Walton said the administrator’s employment contract and appointment had been approved at a prior meeting, so no further formal action on that appointment was required tonight.
On a separate but related personnel matter, the mayor moved to appoint Jeff Fagan Shue as the city’s budget officer, noting that municipal code requires the mayor to appoint a budget officer annually with council consent and that Finance Director Joni Baxter had filled the role previously. A motion to approve the appointment was made (mover: Johnson; second: Ernst) and the council voted unanimously to confirm Shue as budget officer.
The actions complete routine administrative business and set the city administrator to assume formal budget-officer responsibilities in addition to his administrative duties. No timeline for any changes in department assignments or duties was discussed at the meeting.
