Clear Creek ISD trustees approve $133,000 in stadium repairs, several hires and honor students and staff

Clear Creek Independent School District trustees on March 23 approved several routine and personnel actions while recognizing students, coaches and staff for recent achievements.
Capital projects: The board approved the superintendent’s recommendation to use $133,000 from the 2017 bond savings and interest to complete three exterior projects at Challenger Columbia Stadium: replace aged, rusted steel gates with powder-coated, galvanized steel expected to last about 20 years; add two sidewalk ramps to improve accessibility and emergency-vehicle access; and replace rusted site signage. “We are here to request funds totaling $133,000 for some needed repairs at the Challenger Columbia Stadium,” Director of Facilities Alex Aragon told trustees. The motion passed 7–0.
Recognitions: Trustees opened the meeting by reading the district mission and vision and recognizing a slate of students and staff: Walker English, 2026 CCISD spelling bee champion (Armand Bayou Elementary), runner-up Claire Lee (Brookwood Elementary); Wendy Reyes, McWhorter Elementary counselor and H-E-B Excellence in Education Award top-5 finalist; multiple UIL state qualifiers in swimming, diving and wrestling; and two student artists selected for the Texas Art Education Association Youth Art Month exhibition at the Bullock Texas State History Museum. Boards and principals were invited for group photos and the trustees offered congratulations.
Personnel approvals: After a closed session, the board approved several superintendent recommendations by unanimous votes: Jeff Prince as intermediate school principal (7–0), Corey West as ClearPath principal (7–0), Monica Giuffre as Executive Director of Elementary Education (7–0) and Kelly Mooney as the additional Executive Director of Elementary Education (7–0). Superintendent Engel and trustees summarized each appointee’s prior district roles and leadership experience.
Other business: Trustees also moved and approved a nomination of Superintendent Engel to the Texas Association of School Boards Superintendent of the Year program and adopted a resolution recognizing Greg Kruthert and the purchasing department’s TASBO award record.
