Police department asks board to ratify drone purchase; board approves

At the Sept. 15 meeting, a police department representative asked the Wauconda Village Board to ratify a drone purchase made earlier this year.
The police representative said the department ordered and received the drone from Drone Nerds after obtaining quotes from three vendors (Drone Nerds, Cloud City Drones and Adorama). A portion of the purchase was covered by an IPRF grant, and staff requested board ratification because the purchase paperwork had not been completed prior to taking delivery. The representative said, “We already purchased this. We already received it. But my failure to do the proper paperwork, led us to this.”
Mayor called for a motion and second to approve the ratification (item B). The board approved the ratification by roll call.
