Village of Brookfield outlines Dec. 6 downtown holiday celebration

Village Manager Tim told the board on Nov. 24 that Brookfield’s downtown holiday celebration will take place Dec. 6 from 2–6 p.m., with a tree lighting at the Groesdale Station Museum and a slate of family activities.
“It is our holiday celebration, culminating in a fabulous tree lighting outside of the, the, Grosse Tail Station Museum,” Tim said. He described two themed trolleys (Polar Express and Whoville), a Kris Kringle market outside Village Hall, live wood-carving and ice-carving demonstrations, photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, a winter slide, a petting zoo at 8 Corners and expanded business hours for downtown merchants.
Tim said staff and many volunteer groups are working on the event and asked residents who want to help to sign up through the village website. No additional board action was requested; the manager framed the report as informational and encouraged attendance.
The village will provide warming centers and family-oriented programming during the event; Tim noted organizers are still recruiting volunteers to staff activities across downtown.
