Blaga said the guests left litter on the street, used neighbors' trash cans and showed little concern for property. She said a 7‑year‑old found a vape pen inside a bounce house at a block party after a bachelorette party she associated with the rental attended. "A vape in a bounce house meant for kids," she said, adding, "I do not know if that vape was laced with fentanyl." She said she spent roughly $10,000 of her own money to install a privacy fence and urged the council to act.
"Short‑term rentals like this do not belong in residential neighborhoods," Blaga said. "They turn family homes into unregulated hotels. The burden of that falls entirely on permanent residents who live next door and pay taxes." She asked the council to "establish meaningful restrictions or an outright ban on short‑term rentals on Forest Park residential blocks."
Mayor Hoskins thanked Blaga for her comments; no council discussion or formal action on short‑term rentals was recorded at the meeting. Several upcoming items on the council agenda address zoning updates and community engagement (the administration and a commissioner noted a possible town hall the week of April 13), but no vote or referral on short‑term rental regulations occurred at this session.
