SBA rep tells Marion Council low‑interest disaster loans available through Aug. 18

Tatori Marion, a Public Affairs Specialist with the U.S. Small Business Administration, told the Marion City Council during public comment that the agency is accepting applications for low‑interest federal disaster loans through Aug. 18. She said the program is open to homeowners, renters, businesses and nonprofits and directed listeners to sba.gov/disaster for information.
"My name is Tatori Marion. I'm a Public Affairs Specialist with the Small Business Administration," Marion said, adding that the loans are 30‑year fixed and that interest rates run about 4 percent for businesses and 2.8 percent for homeowners and renters.
Council members asked whether the city could post the information on the municipal website, and staff agreed to follow up. The council did not take any formal action on the announcement.
The announcement came at the start of the meeting during the public comment period and was the only public comment that evening related to federal disaster loan assistance.
