Wayne honors DECA students and hears Commission on Aging plans for seniors

The council recognized Wayne Memorial High School students who placed at district and state DECA competitions and heard an update from the Commission on Aging.
Sarah Huey, the school's business teacher and DECA advisor, introduced several students and described how the first-year team "blew all expectations out of the water," winning two team awards and an individual presentation award at the state conference. Students named and recognized included Alexandria Macko, Wanda Henry, Aiden Drennan and Dee Harris; the mayor and council presented certificates of recognition.
Skip Monnett, representing the Commission on Aging, detailed recent and upcoming programs for seniors, including active-shooter prevention and preparedness training, fire-prevention and slip-and-fall classes, Kidney Foundation seminars held in February, and planned seminars on fraud protection, home health care and tax preparation. He announced the commission’s fourth annual Health & Information Expo on Oct. 22 and provided contact information for further inquiries.
Council members congratulated the students and thanked Commission on Aging volunteers for their work.
