The North High project will create a capstone-capable shop space, address ventilation and air-conditioning concerns that make the current shop unsafe for students, and split a shop area to support separate wood and metals programs. Staff said the upgrades are needed to correct long-standing safety and infrastructure shortcomings.
Why it matters: The award commits more than $2.4 million in district funds (projected from bond or capital project sources) and will change the facilities and program capacity at North High. Directors pressed for program clarity; staff offered that some advanced credentialing opportunities remain centralized but that North requires physical upgrades to safely support CTE instruction.
