Oneida County ADRC Committee accepts $1,000 donation, begins recruitment and highlights senior events

At its April 27, 2026 meeting the Oneida County ADRC Committee approved routine minutes and agenda items, accepted a $1,000 donation from St. Theresa of Avila for the Three Lakes dining site, began recruiting to replace a committee member whose term ends June 30, and reviewed upcoming programs and staffing updates.
ADRC Committee Chair Debbie Condado called the April 27, 2026 meeting to order at 9 a.m. in the Balsam Room at the Aging and Disability Resource Center and presided over routine business including approval of the agenda and the March 23 minutes.
The committee voted unanimously to accept a $1,000 donation from St. Theresa of Avila designated for the Three Lakes dining site to purchase disposable Oliver trays to replace reusable hard plastic trays, a change staff said will reduce the need to return and wash trays after each use. The resolution was moved by Linnaea Newman and seconded by James Unger; committee members voted "all ayes" and the resolution will be signed after the meeting.
ADRC Manager Mya Olkowski told members that Northwoods Transit first-quarter ridership is up 1% from the same period in 2025 and that the service is fully staffed after hiring a part‑time driver. Olkowski reported the surveyor work on Oneida County parcel PE-69 is expected by the May 22 deadline and noted Northwoods Transit will celebrate its 10th anniversary in May 2026.
Manager Olkowski also reviewed upcoming ADRC programming: the April 17 "Think Spring" Fun Friday event; a free card‑making class on April 30 (reservations required); a "Picnic in the Park" Fun Friday on May 22 with trishaw rides (suggested $5 donation); and a World Elder Abuse Awareness Day event on June 18 featuring Donna Rosner of GWAAR. Staff reported adult protective services (APS) referrals are up from this time last year while calls and walk‑ins remain about the same.
Agency representative Beth Hoerchler reported three positions were filled in February and March and two openings are in process; she highlighted the Strengthening Families event at the Hodag Dome on April 15, which drew about 160 participants, and other recent community events.
The committee discussed membership and governance: Joan Hauer’s second and final term ends June 30, 2026, creating a citizen vacancy that staff will advertise through local newspapers, the ADRC website and newsletter, and other county posting options; a paper application will be available at the ADRC. Members were encouraged to recommend candidates, and prior applicants may be notified. The committee will elect a Vice‑Chair at the May meeting, which members agreed to move to Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. because the regular date fell on Memorial Day.
Chair Condado noted the 2026 financial reports were reviewed with no major findings. With no public comment, the meeting adjourned at 9:29 a.m.
