At the June 24 meeting, Mayor Henry John King delivered community announcements and staff provided routine operational updates.
The mayor shared condolences for recently deceased community members, highlighted a Minnesota History Center display honoring longtime local resident Beulah Aikany, and promoted upcoming events including summer fest, weekly car shows and the farmers market. He also noted an open house on the Highway 30 design plans for neighborhood input.
Public works staff described a water-main break on Main Street that required coordination with local businesses and on-scene assistance; staff thanked those who helped manage traffic and operations during repairs. The city’s engineering and water-resources staff will monitor follow-up work.
Library staff reported strong attendance — particularly on rainy days — and described popular programs including themed craft kits and sticker art; library staff said adult programming and special kits (for example a Taylor Swift–themed kit) have been well received.
Pool staff said pool use has been steady but that pool surfacing is at least 20 years old and showing cracks and water loss. The pool director said the city will solicit pricing for resurfacing and prefers to schedule major work in the fall to limit summer disruption.
Council thanked staff for their work and encouraged residents to attend summer activities and the upcoming Highway 30 open house.
