In a supervisor report to the planning commission, Stewart said the Board of Supervisors tabled consideration of a conditional‑use permit for a proposed 190‑foot Verizon cell tower after residents near the proposed site raised safety and property‑impact concerns.
According to Stewart, Verizon provided the board with a photo of a collapsed engineered tower to demonstrate safety engineering, but supervisors noted the example used a different design and did not allay neighbor fears. "Verizon sent the board a a photo of a collapsed tower that was engineered to collapse and it and it did, but that tower was a was not a Mogul Hall Tower. It's a completely different design tower," Stewart said. The board decided to table the permit so each supervisor could visit the area, meet with resident Ms. Campbell and explore whether the tower could be sited to reduce impacts.
Why it matters: The decision delays final action and signals that the board intends to consult residents and explore alternatives before approving a structure of this size near homes.
What’s next: The permit will be revisited at a later board meeting after site visits and outreach; no final decision was recorded in the transcript.
