Amber, the county project lead, described a contractor-based approach that avoids heavy machinery in the channel: crews will chainsaw invasive stems, haul material out for chipping and apply chemical stump treatment on-site to prevent resprouting. The project includes monitoring and reporting (staff noted coordination with USGS and UDAF) and is intended to open larger partnership and funding opportunities in future cycles.
Commissioners voted to accept the grant and authorized the chair to sign the award documents. Amber said the project will also create data that could help secure additional funding in subsequent years.
