Board adopts 2027–28 Fargo school calendar, committee prioritized storm‑day scheduling

The group focused discussion on when to place storm days (the calendar recommends using May 19 as the first storm day and April 17 as the second) and examined options for a week‑long spring break. "In the past, surveys showed every one of those groups wanted a week‑long spring break. This last showing that was not the case," Dr. Gross said, characterizing the survey split as about 51–49.
Committee members also considered the timing of advanced‑placement testing and alignment with local college calendars and childcare needs; board members said those community factors weighed against reinstating a full week off in March. Robin Nelson and other trustees thanked the calendar committee and Dr. Gross for facilitating multiple stakeholder perspectives.
Robin made the motion to approve the 2027–28 calendar as presented; the board voted 8–0 in favor.
