Superintendent Stacy Stanley delivered a 100‑day entry report that distilled stakeholder feedback into strengths, opportunities, aspirations and measurable results.
Stanley said families praised the district’s cultural responsiveness, nutrition services and career‑and‑college readiness programs. She also identified priorities for action: raise literacy outcomes, expand unified special‑education programming, address inconsistent discipline practices and remedy facility inequities and language‑access gaps.
"Our families and students are not asking for perfection. They are asking for consistency, equity, dignity and follow through," Stanley said, summarizing community input gathered in dozens of engagement events, thought exchanges and focus groups.
On the board‑initiated goal to increase art and music spending, Executive Chief Tom Seager reported that FY26 budgeted art and music allocations total about $8.65 million, or approximately $278 per pupil (estimated K‑12 enrollment of 31,080). That represents a $35 per‑pupil increase from FY25 and places the district roughly $6 per pupil short of the district’s FY29 per‑pupil target; Seager estimated the district is on pace to reach the target before 2029.
Board members discussed whether to refresh or retarget the strategic plan based on the superintendent’s findings and asked staff to define measurable benchmarks for future goals.
