Committee advances updated policies on school clubs and school-day organization to BOE first reading

Executive Director Anderson explained the district is moving policies into a new format that includes a policy purpose and clearer language. The proposed changes do not change the districtbs intent to permit student clubs but clarify supervision requirements and compliance with applicable law. For the calendar and school-day policy, administrators said the revision consolidates overlapping language, preserves the district's practice of meet-and-confer with bargaining units and community input through the calendar committee, and would rescind 603.01 once the consolidated policy completes the three-reading process.
The committee indicated no objection to bringing the items to the Board of Education first reading on Oct. 21 and directed staff to proceed with the three-reading process.
