Council awards multiple street and airport project bids, accepts donations and grants

Council voted to accept the low bid and proceed with awarding the contract.
For the 2025 Street Capital Improvements (Hillside reclaim), one bid was received from Joe Riley Construction for $162,552.15 against an engineer’s estimate of $244,008.44; funds will come from the capital improvement fund and council awarded the contract. Council and staff discussed timeline coordination between the East 7th project and Hillside work.
Council also accepted donations totaling $5,720 to support a June 7 fly‑in event at the municipal airport and accepted an $800 donation for park benches from John and Christine Van Campen. Becca reported the city closed on a new liquor-store site purchase for $151,002.85 (total closing costs ~$152,007.73) and said soil borings and summer bidding are planned.
Additionally, Becca announced the city received an active transportation grant award of $527,680 for a trail project covering approximately five miles of trail work; council accepted the grant information and will follow procurement procedures as required.
