The Board of Agriculture and Biosecurity approved a 90-day right-of-entry (ROE) for William Hanson Jr. to remove personal belongings, inoperable vehicles, and debris from a parcel formerly under general lease 4779 at Panaewa Agricultural Park.
Brandy Ayolo (ARM division property manager, Big Island) presented the request and said the parcel is currently overgrown and that Mr. Hanson, citing heavy work obligations in emergency management, requested time-limited access to clean the site. The proposed ROE would commence upon board approval and run for 90 calendar days unless earlier terminated. Staff recommended approval to reduce the state's burden and to allow the lessee to demonstrate good faith.
Board members asked for before-and-after photos and clarified when the department will advertise the property for re-leasing; staff said the department expects to post public notice within a few months after cleanup. The board approved the ROE unanimously.
