Chickasha council approves up-to-$249,000 task order to extend water and sewer to airport industrial park

The item was introduced by the mayor as a motion to approve Task Order No. 2 for the water line and sewer line extension and to authorize the mayor to execute the same. A council member moved the measure and it was seconded; a subsequent roll call recorded affirmative votes and the motion passed.
Council members pressed for clarity about the scope of the city’s work. One member said, “Our portion for the city should just be up to the industrial park, not to or through the industrial park.” A city staff member responded, “The city is responsible only for the water and sewer lines that are on city property. Any person that wants to from the industrial side connect to it, any other lines is responsibility of the industrial authority. The city cannot work on any private property.”
Council also asked technical questions about materials and sizing. One member referenced “1.89 miles of 12 inch waterline” and asked what material would be used; staff said the water main would likely be C900 PVC and that sewer piping would be sized during design, probably SDR 26 PVC and likely 6- or 8-inch sewer mains.
The council completed a roll call vote after discussion and approved the task order by recorded assent. The measure authorizes the mayor to execute the agreement with Park Hill for the specified amount; the contract’s detailed design and any private-side connections remain the responsibility of the developer or industrial authority.
Next steps: staff will proceed with the task order design and construction processes consistent with the contract and with the clarifications about the city’s responsibility for lines confined to city property.
