The City of Doral City Council on April 8 approved Ordinance No. 202607 to vacate a public right-of-way (Northwest 52nd Terrace) adjacent to specified folio parcels to accommodate the proposed La Jolla housing development.
Carlos Arroyo, the city's public works director, told the council the right-of-way provides access only to adjacent properties and not to other areas of downtown, and described the applicant's filings and folio numbers. He said the proposed development would include 135 single-family units internal to private roads, and that Codina (the applicant) is working on a replatting process. "The public works department has already reviewed the initial application and recommends approval," Arroyo said, and added that final council approval will follow once all application requirements and documents are satisfied.
Councilman Rafael Pinedo moved to approve the ordinance on first reading; Vice Mayor Dima Cabral seconded. The clerk called the roll and recorded affirmative votes from Pinedo, Cabral, Councilwoman Nicole Reynoso, Councilwoman Maureen Porras and Mayor Kristy Fraga; the motion passed.
The approval authorizes the city manager to execute necessary documents upon completion of required submittals and a successful second reading, at which time final implementation steps will be set.
