Tom Serco elected Raymore mayor pro tem in 5–3 council vote

The council selected Tom Serco (Ward 2) as Raymore's mayor pro tem at the April 27 session.
Councilman Don Baker and Councilman Tom Serco were nominated. "Do each nominees accept those nominations?" the mayor asked; both accepted. The presiding officer conducted a roll vote: Baker received 3 votes and Serco received 5 votes, and the mayor announced Serco as the next mayor pro tem for the coming year.
Mayor Turnbull read the city charter provision describing the mayor pro tem's duties and limitations, including when the mayor pro tem assumes mayoral powers and when veto or mayoral voting powers differ according to the charter's subsections. The mayor also said he will continue to serve as the council's representative on the planning and zoning commission unless another nomination is made.
The council did not attach additional conditions to Serco's selection; the position will take effect immediately according to the standard practice described at the meeting.
