Park County ABE adopts BOCC model bylaws, elects 2026 officers and approves routine business

At its Jan. 13 meeting the Advisory Board of the Environment adopted proposed bylaws supplied by the BOCC, emphasized compliance with Colorado Open Meetings laws and elected officers for 2026; routine agenda and minutes approvals and adjournment were unanimous.
The Advisory Board of the Environment (ABE) voted Jan. 13 to adopt proposed bylaws provided by the Park County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). Lucas Meyer reviewed the revisions and emphasized that each advisory board should tailor and adopt bylaws consistent with Colorado Open Meetings laws; ABE noted the need to coordinate communications through an assigned Park County staff member, currently Allison Zan.
Following that presentation ABE approved routine business: the meeting agenda and the Nov. 12, 2025 minutes were approved (motions by Mr. Bernie Petersen and Mr. Patrick Schilken where noted). The board also realigned member term lengths effective Jan. 1, 2026 (three-year terms for Patrick Schilken and Bernie Petersen; two-year terms for Amy Huffman and John Reiber; one-year terms for Ramon Castro and Jennifer Migliorato) and elected officers for 2026: John Reiber as chair (nominated by Ramon Castro and seconded by Bernie Petersen), Amy Huffman as vice chair and Patrick Schilken as secretary (nominations by Ramon Castro, seconded by Bernie Petersen). All motions were recorded as approved unanimously.
The board scheduled additional discussion of the South Park Rail Society for its Feb. 10 meeting and adjourned at 3:30 p.m.
