The Park County Tourism Board on March 24 unanimously approved additions to its bylaws, recorded the resignation of a board member and discussed promotional strategies and county initiatives for 2026.
Chairperson Bill Bruner called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. and informed the board that "Angie" had resigned due to scheduling conflicts; the resignation was entered into the meeting record. The board also deferred a vote to elect a new secretary until April, pending the arrival of a new member.
Board members said the 2026 budget is already fully allocated, and the board cannot accommodate additional events this year. Bill Bruner and Dana Peters noted this constraint during discussion of a proposed event in Guffey, effectively ruling out new event funding from the tourism board’s existing budget for 2026.
Megan Pinson moved to approve the proposed additions to the bylaws; Dana Peters seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The board also approved the meeting agenda and the March 10, 2026 minutes by unanimous votes.
On administrative items, Andrew Spencer, listed as Park County staff/BOCC, provided updates on initiatives the county is pursuing for tourism. Spencer said staff is pursuing International Dark Sky Preserve accreditation for the South Park National Heritage Area and is planning to develop a strategic plan for the tourism board. Board members discussed those initiatives and potential implications for promotion and programming.
Discussion involving Mount Bailey Productions — including participation by Stephanie Cantu, Dana Peters and Megan Pinson — focused on content planning and promotional strategies to support businesses across Park County. No formal action on promotional contracts or expenditures was recorded at the meeting.
Director comments included a request from Lucas Meyer and others for an update on Lukac’s contract and a discussion of the need for improved signage in towns such as Hartsel to better direct traffic and promote local businesses.
The board scheduled its next meeting for April 28, 2026, at 10 a.m. in Fairplay and adjourned at 10:53 a.m.
