MTPO elects Casey Willets chair, Adrian Hayes Santos vice chair as leadership rotates

At the end of the meeting the board elected its leadership for the coming term. Casey Willets, a Gainesville city commissioner, was nominated and confirmed as chair. Adrian Hayes Santos, the airport authority representative, was confirmed as vice chair (county-side representation) in keeping with the MTPO's practice of rotating leadership between municipal and county representatives.
Members discussed the usual rotation and noted that as the MTPO expands beyond the urbanized center, the board will revisit leadership practices and the inclusion of newer, non-city/county municipal members for future slots. The vote to approve the slate was unanimous.
The newly elected officers will serve as the MTPO prepares to onboard its incoming executive director and to represent the MTPO at the statewide MPOAC meetings.
