Residents raise traffic, sewer and township reserve concerns at Hendricks County meeting

Two residents used the public-comment period at the March 10 Hendricks County commissioners meeting to raise questions about traffic management and township finances.
Jim Murphy of Brownsburg suggested traffic-control ideas for planned improvements along County Road 1000 N., asked about a rumor that County Road 900 E. would close in three to four days and expressed concern that Brown Township reserves were being depleted by actions of the Town of Brownsburg, which he said could force the township to reestablish a tax rate. Commissioner Bob Gentry said tax-rate questions should be taken up with the county council. County Engineer John Ayers said the rumor about an immediate closure of CR 900 E. was not true but that a closure will happen at some point and that traffic-control plans for CR 1000 N. will depend on timing of nearby projects.
Anthony Gary asked about the status of a traffic study for 56th Street and Raceway Road; Ayers said the study conducted last summer was for 56th Street and Eagle Crossing and that he received the results last week but has not reviewed them fully, and suggested Gary discuss the findings with him later.
The commissioners also reported the county is monitoring traffic patterns from the CR 700 N. closure, especially at CR 800 N. and State Road 267, and said two recent accidents on SR 267 were unrelated to the detour. No formal county action was recorded in the minutes on the public comments; staff follow-up was suggested where appropriate.
