The House of Representatives convened for a short session and completed routine business before adjourning until 6:30 p.m. the following day.
During roll call the clerk reported full attendance, stating, "Madam speaker, all 51 members are present." Representative Chun offered a brief recognition and asked members to "Let's all wish a very happy birthday to the representative from Hilo." Representative Matayoshi reminded members about an upcoming blood drive, saying, "We've got about 33. We need about 55. It's on May 7, the day before CNA DA. So please sign up if you haven't already."
Later in the session, for the adjournment the presiding officer recognized Representative Morikawa, who moved that "this house stand adjourned until 06:30PM tomorrow." Representative Garcia seconded the motion. The presiding officer called for the ayes, and the motion was carried; the clerk then announced the House stood adjourned until 6:30 p.m. the next day.
The session included several procedural items handled without debate: the reading of the journal was deferred at the request of Representative Morikawa; the clerk reported there were no messages from the governor; and the clerk summarized senate communications, including returned adopted concurrent resolutions and notice that the senate had disagreed to some house-proposed amendments and had appointed conferees to certain bills. Members were also reminded of a 48-hour notice regarding conference committee reports numbered 2 through 10.
No formal legislation was debated or adopted during the sitting beyond the motion to adjourn. The session ended after the voice vote to adjourn.
