The Wixom City Council approved a recommendation to accept a bid from Hartwell Cement Company of Oak Park, Michigan, to carry out sidewalk replacement and road upgrades, funding the work with $100,000 from the Safety Path Construction account and $150,000 from Concrete Industrial Road Repairs.
City staff described the sidewalk piece as a citywide needs assessment-driven program to address trip hazards and drainage concerns and said right-of-way signage work will follow separate permitting and review with Oakland County. The council moved, seconded and approved the bid by voice vote.
The award was presented as part of the consent agenda and council did not remove the item for separate discussion. The contract was authorized as presented.
Next steps: Public Works will schedule the sidewalk work and coordinate any county right-of-way permit approvals.
