The Kewanee City Council unanimously approved a resolution on April 13 appointing City Clerk Kasey Mitchell as the city’s next manager. The motion to approve Bill 26-26 was made by Councilmember Colomer and seconded by Councilmember Komnick and passed 4-0.
The resolution states that, upon passage, Mitchell will serve as Kewanee’s third city manager who was born and raised in the city and as the first woman from Kewanee to hold the post. The appointment follows the council’s closed session earlier in the evening for personnel and litigation matters.
Councilmembers did not request further discussion before the vote. Mayor Moore and other councilmembers offered congratulations to Mitchell during council communications after the vote. Mitchell, currently the city clerk, will assume the duties of city manager as provided in the resolution.
The council took no additional public comment on the appointment at the meeting. The council adjourned at 8:43 p.m.
