Geary County proclaims May as National Treatment Court Month, recovery court reports 22 participants

Court and community corrections officials asked the commission to adopt a proclamation establishing National Treatment Court Month in May and provided an update on local recovery court activity.
Court representative Courtney Craver said the county began recovery court sessions Jan. 14, 2025, and currently has 22 participants (14 men and 8 women). Craver said five participants have been accepted into the program and seven have been removed since 2025 for reasons including transfers out of the district. The recovery court team said it hopes to hold its first graduation in late summer or early fall and invited commissioners to attend.
The commission approved the proclamation declaring May 2026 as treatment court month in Geary County and asked the recovery court team to present updated statistics at the joint city–county meeting on May 18.
