Hendricks County commissioners approve $1.4M resurfacing contract, animal-shelter freezer and website ADA overlay

HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. — The Hendricks County Board of Commissioners on April 14 approved a series of contracts and procurement actions during a regularly scheduled meeting.
The board voted unanimously to award the 2026-1 Community Crossings grant-funded resurfacing contract to Milestone Contractors for $1,402,358, the lowest responsive and responsible bid reported by County Engineer John Ayers. The board also approved awarding the Animal Control Shelter outdoor freezer contract to Schert Foodservice Equipment for $41,900.30, following a recommendation from Garmong representative Zacree Sheese.
Facilities Manager Dennis Eickmann presented and the board approved a three-year Open Control Systems Agreement for jail mechanical systems for $21,383.00. IT Director Doug Morris requested and received approval to purchase an overlay product from CivicPlus to improve the county website’s ADA compatibility; Morris noted a retail price of $55,000 before any county discounts.
The commissioners authorized negotiation of design contracts for Bridge Nos. 141 and 198, directing staff to enter negotiations with USI for Bridge No. 141 and American Structurepoint for Bridge No. 198 after receiving 11 proposals. John Ayers also reported that the Town of Avon requested transfer of several right-of-way segments and the board agreed to proceed with those transfers.
Ann Stark presented and the board approved a Combined Subdivision Participation and Release Form so certain remnant defendants are eligible for remaining opioid settlement funds. The board also authorized signing a USDA Conservation Reserve Program contract for M & J Farms by consensus.
The board tabled a revised Purchasing Policy for further work and closed the meeting at 9:52 a.m.
